Vinho Verde Gatão
Maybe I should have written my inaugeral entry before I drank most of the bottle.
I listened to an NPR piece about how to buy wine, and one of the tips they gave was to avoid labels with animals on the bottle. Somehow, though, I manage to keep buying bottles with cats on them. How does this happen?? At least it hasn’t done me wrong yet.
Vinho Verde Gatão is a basic white wine. I don’t know a lot about wine, but I found it enjoyable. Basically, it tastes like fermented apple juice. Or, I suppose, grape juice? Sam said, and I quote, “it tastes like candy.”
I don’t drink a lot of white wine, but I would drink this again. Maybe I shouldn’t, though, since apparently it is too appealing to resist until the bottle is empty.
Maybe I should tell you a bit more about it. It’s sweet and, um, fruity tasting. It was good with barbequed tofu. Also stellar with popcorn. Only 9% ABV, which made it pretty easy to drink. At $7, I would buy it again. I’ll try to be more sober for my next entry!

While Sam and Shawn are writing decent reviews, it’s pretty obvious that you’re the future of this blog. Keep up the good work!

If it didn’t get me drunk, it’s not worth writing about!
I forgot to add a bonus feature of this wine. Despite knocking me out for the evening, it resulted in no hangover the next morning.
I bought another bottle of Vinho Verde at Trader Joe’s this morning. It’s a different brand for comparison. (I drink in the name of science.) The label on the shelf describes it as “sweet” and “fruity,” so two points for me there.
