He’brew Origin Pomegranate Ale
A gift from Amy, this delicious beer was imbibed during a massive thunderstorm where I taught my daughter that it is quite amusing when her daddy jumps at the sound of thunder.
I did realize as I started this beer, that I don’t really know what pomegranate tastes like, so I won’t be able to comment on that other than to make an obligatory Persephone reference. That aside, this beer was very, very good. Sweetish at the start of the sip and bitter at the end, this drink went well with our farmers market medley of snap peas, squash, cucumbers and lettuce.
The only “problem” with this beer was that I mocked it for being an Imperial at only 8% ABV. About halfway down this glass, this beer got extremely awesome as I got drunker. That was also about the time Kat and I pulled out the Kettle Tortilla Chips and grated some Pepper Jack on them. My, those were delicious too and the beer held up with the salty, spicy goodness.
For a meal that went from sober squash to inebriated salty, this beer was a star. Worth spending a few months in Hades for.

Pomegranate juice is sort of astringent and palate-cleansing so it seems fitting that this would be tasty with a variety of foods. Plus it’s delicious. Pomegranate Izze sodas and dishes made with pomegranate molasses ftw.

Hi there!
Glad to hear Origin was good thunderstorm/nacho company. I’d say an 8% amber ale definitely qualifies as “imperial” though; if you disagree, check out Jewbelation, which rock the 12% ABV. Thanks for the review!

Melissa, I agree that it definitely counts as Imperial after drinking it. I mocked it foolheartedly and paid for my insolence with a happy buzz.
