    Taste the South

Tonight, Tara and I had Tempeh Reuben, chips and Natty Greene’s Golden Ale. Natty Greene‘s Brewery is a local favorite; their Golden Ale being one of our staples when we want a quality beer that doesn’t hog the screen. It’s crisp and clean. Pleasantly yeasty.

It was picked because the star of this meal wasn’t the beer, it was the sandwich. It was made with a sauerkraut crafted by a Carrboro native slow food producer – Farmer’s Daughter. Delicious. Go buy it. Now. Oh wait, you can only get it in Chapel Hill… to be continued

    One delicious meal.

    Hipity-hop

I got suckered into a bad beer experience. I was eavesdropping on the Bestway owner (or buyer?) giving this beer his top accolades, clearly proud of his stock. It’s a very limited production, very high quality beer by Highland. The exclusivity got me.

    The minute I took a sip, I knew I’d made a mistake.

It has the hoppiness of an IPA. The body of Guinness. The bitterness is the only thing that lingered. This is a beer that should not be attempted (by me) without an equally strong meal (which I did not have).

I should have known, I should have resisted.
