I just had Pipeline Porter the other night, and found it a little light for me but with a very nice quality I can’t remember now–was it a slightly bitter mocha quality? I think that might have been it.

I recently tasted the Little Sumpin’ Extra Ale, and it did not disappoint. I found it a beautifully floral IPA that tasted like it could have come from the Dogfish family. Thanks for the heads up on more awesome from Lagunitas.

Does it seem to anyone else that “Porter” is having a resurgence? I had Kona’s Pipeline Porter yesterday, and it was awesome. But I was surprised to see that brewery putting out a seasonal porter and not a stout.

For the record, I am not complaining at all.

So last night I tried the 2009 TJ’s Vintage Ale. It was $4.99 this year (!) and is almost as good as last year’s. It still has that pleasing sweetness. The finish is only so-so; innuendo aside, I really do like a lingering finish possibly because it keeps my taste buds occupied so I don’t have to rush to my next sip, which is a good idea when you are a featherweight in the drinks department.

Trader Joe’s Vintage Ale is definitely a seasonal favorite of mine, too. It’s a steal, and really is quite awesome.

Another winter favorite of mine is Dominion’s Baltic Porter, which is just a nice, drinkable porter. It’s fairly big in terms of alcohol content, and as such carries a lot of flavor. It’s one of my favorite beers, regardless of blending partners.

A semi-dry sparkling wine. Lightness to contrast with the heavy mouthfeel of the nougat; not too sweet.

Awesome beer list and good post. I like the comparison to Harvey’s Bristol Cream

For “historic recipe” beers from Dogfish Head, I like Pangea more than Midas Touch.
